Home Articles Company News Discover Alberon’s new office
An exciting development took place in the summer of 2022 and for the past ten months, we have been settling into our new office at Ruskin College in Oxford. Almost a year on, we wanted to reflect on our new surroundings and introduce you to the new home of Alberon.
Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Our home had been at the Oxford Enterprise Centre on Cave Street, near Magdalen Bridge. After over ten years of working in this office, we moved out as remote working became the new normal during the national lockdowns. In the late summer of last year, we decided we needed a physical hub to reconnect with each other in person, and we settled into office life once again, this time in Headington at Ruskin College.
With a history dating back to 1899, Ruskin College was founded by Charles Beard and Walter Vrooman on the principles of accessible education and social justice. Their vision was to create a learning environment for working-class adults who otherwise would not have access to education. The college has a rich history and has produced many alumni of note, including politicians, secretaries of unions, and research officers. During the Second World War, it was even used as a maternity hospital, reflecting the ways in which the College has supported women’s rights throughout its lifetime.
In 2012, large-scale development work on the building was completed, providing a striking and modern addition to the existing historic building. The new building beautifully preserves and complements the charm and features of The Rookery, and our new office, tucked away within the grounds of the College provides an inspiring atmosphere for work and learning. Removed from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, our new base in Headington is a peaceful environment allowing us to really focus on delivering the best possible service for our valued clients.
Our Sales Director Tim Ault has reflected upon our transition, and enjoys the tranquillity of the new office.
‘Alberon has done quite a number of educational projects over the years and so Ruskin College feels a good place to be. We are also some distance from the centre of Oxford and its current traffic issues! Most Alberon staff work remotely during the week, but Friday is an “in the office” day for all Oxford based staff when we enjoy seeing each other face to face.’
This flexibility provides a positive work environment for our staff, who are able to manage their work and lifestyles efficiently, whilst still maintaining the sense of belonging to a larger team.
For our local clients, or those from further afield finding themselves in Oxford, we would love to welcome you to our new home! Please do not hesitate to get in touch and Tim and everybody else here at Alberon will be delighted to show you around.
